win at casino beating blackjack?
if i play any card game, say blackjack… starting with $100 and betting $10 each hand, how much should i be able to have won in order for me to leave the casino before it takes down my winnings? (PS: Please don’t post any “gamble is bad don’t do it” i’m old enough to know what’s good for me thanks)
There is no value in quitting while you’re ahead, or quitting while you’re behind, so the question is a little off the mark. You should play for as long as you are getting an overlay (playing with an edge), and as long as you feel alert and are enjoying yourself. You should quit if you’re not getting an overlay, and you’re not in the mood to gamble while getting the worst of it.
In other words, don’t set a “stop loss,” where you quit when you’re down a certain amount, and don’t set a ceiling on your winnings. In theory you could sit down with $100, and leave with $10,000, but it would take extraordinary luck and a gambling spirit to stick so much on the line repeatedly.
Depending on where you’re playing, the house can bring heat down on you as soon as they have strong reason to suspect you’re counting. This is highly unlikely to happen on a single visit. Casinos don’t want to be seen kicking out every player who wins. It’s bad for business. But if you’re beating them daily, they’ll be watching you.
